FLAGSTAFF SKY PEAKS – RING THE SKY 50 MILE
Join us for a unique 50-mile ultra marathon around the San Francisco Peaks above Flagstaff, Arizona. This race features a great mix of quad busting steep climbs, single-track trail, and forest roads through Northern Arizona’s fall colors.
The race will now begin at the Flagstaff Hotshots Ranch near the bottom of the Snowbowl Road. Runners will head out about 8/10 of a mile where they’ll connect with the Arizona Trail where you’ll climb up near the base of Snowbowl before descending through the Aspen trees to White Horse Aid.
You’ll wind through miles of Aspen forests before reaching a network of Coconino County forest roads making your way around the north side of the peaks past old cinder cones and through ponderosa pine forests.
Then it’s back off-road utilizing an old route climbing 2,000 feet up to the San Francisco Peak’s Inner Basin. Making your way from here down the gentle and wide Waterline dirt road, you’ll cruise right into Schultz Tank just in time to climb your way up portions of Mount Elden before descending back to the Weatherford Trail on your way to Fort Valley. Weaving your way through some spectacular single track, you’ll stay low on the mountain this year, finishing back at the HotShots Ranch. Congratulations you’ve just ringed the entire San Francisco Peaks!
